Restoration Process
- Your photo arrives, either through the post as a print, via e-mail, or by our submission form.
- We will assess the amount of work needed to restore the image, taking into account any of your particular requirements, and send you a quote by e-mail. If necessary, we will contact you at this stage to discuss your wishes. We do not expect any payment at this stage.
- If not already in digital form, we will scan the photo, so that the restoration work can begin. This leaves the original print, transparency or negative in its original form, and causes no additional damage.
- The work begins on the computer, using the latest photo-editing software, first of all correcting overall problems like fading, poor exposure or colour casts. At this stage we can also crop the image to remove unnecessary areas or to improve the composition. Then we get down to details such as stains, scratches and creases. More complex problems might even involve combining two or more photos.
- Once we are happy with the restoration, you will be sent a digital, watermarked copy of the image along with an invoice. If there are any changes you would like at this stage, we will do whatever we can to incorporate them in the final image.
- Only when you are happy with the final watermarked image do we expect payment. This can be done very simply and securely through our website using Paypal. You don’t even need to have a Paypal account to use this facility. Just go to Payment.
- Once payment is received we will e-mail you the restored image without the watermark. If you have requested prints or enlargements, these will be posted to you along with any original print, transparencies or negatives by recorded delivery.
